Why am I doing this and how did I find Rock Your Retirement?
So you might ask “why this podcast and this journal”? The answer is: I really don’t know!”
I’m not entirely sure what I’m getting myself into but I’m excited to work with Kathe and here’s how it happened.
While I was sitting in my “at home” office because of the COVID-19 epidemic I decided that I wanted to retire. I knew I had an 8 to 9 month timeframe. On my morning walks, I started listening to anything I could find about retirement lifestyle.
I’ve been very fortunate in that financially we’re fine. We’ve worked with a financial planner for the last 10 years and feel prepared and ready.
But due to being very busy at work all these years with a rewarding but high stress demanding job, I know what I’m retiring from. I just don’t know yet what I’m retiring too.
I used google to search for articles and information on retirement lifestyle and I came upon Kathe‘s podcast. I was so excited I started listening to the most recent podcasts. Recently I started working my way forward from the beginning each morning with my dog Sadie. I have been learning so much new information.
Then I found and joined the Facebook page but the next week I learned that she was announcing that she wasn’t going to continue with the podcast. I thought – “oh my goodness, that is terrible!” That same day I saw her post asking if there is anyone out there who is going to be retiring and willing to talk and I thought, “well that’s me”.
Kathe and I had the opportunity to meet each other in person over Zoom. She’s on the East Coast and I’m on the West Coast and I felt like we hit it off. In fact, I think she could be a new best friend! So I’m very excited to do this project with her.
I have no illusions that I have all the answers. In fact, I think my strength is that I have lots of questions. The answers will come as they come. She’s had so many people on her program that are so accomplished and interesting, I feel humbled to even be here and have a small part of this. But I’m grateful for the blessings I have and I’m ready to take this journey through to the end!
